Frequently Asked Questions

  • After an optional brief 15-minute consultation, the first session is a chance to get a sense of each other and begin to understand what’s bringing you in.

We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what feels difficult right now, and what you’re hoping for—at a pace that feels manageable. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say.

There’s no pressure to go too deep too quickly. The focus is on getting oriented and starting where you are.

  • Not at all.

Many people come to therapy for the first time when something starts to feel harder than usual—whether that’s stress, sleep, burnout, or a life transition.

We keep things straightforward and grounded. You won’t be expected to use specific language or “do therapy the right way.”

  • I support people who are navigating stress, burnout, sleep challenges, and periods of transition—especially when the pace of life no longer feels sustainable or something feels “off,” even if it’s hard to explain why.

    This can include:
    • early parenting and maternal mental health
    • emotional exhaustion and burnout (including caregivers or “helping professionals”, those in the service of others)
    • sleep disruption and insomnia (CBT-I informed)
    • changes in identity, work, or family life

Often, people reach out when things are still “working” on the surface—but not in a way that feels sustainable, or when they feel stuck, unsettled, or not quite like themselves.

  • My approach is both relational and evidence-based.

That means I pay close attention to your experience and take time to understand what’s going on, but I also draw from established psychotherapeutic approaches to help you make meaningful changes in how you think, feel, and respond.

This isn’t just a space to talk.

    We work to:

    • understand patterns that are keeping things stuck or depleting

    • identify and build on your existing strengths as a foundation for change

    • build practical skills to support sleep, emotional regulation, and day-to-day functioning

    • strengthen your ability to navigate stress, relationships, and change with more clarity and steadiness

At times, I may invite you to look at patterns or perspectives differently—always with the goal of helping you build capacity, confidence, and a stronger sense of agency in your life.

  • Many people seek therapy when they’re feeling tense, overwhelmed, or constantly “on” - or, at other times, feeling more depleted or not quite themselves.

Part of this work is creating a space that feels more steady and anchored—even when life itself doesn’t feel that way.

I draw from established approaches in psychotherapy and work with them in a way that is practical, human, and responsive to your life.

Over time, this kind of work may begin to feel like:

    • Early on: a slight softening—your body or reactions may feel a bit less intense or a little less heavy

    • After some time: less constant tension, and a bit more clarity, space to think and respond

    • Over time: a greater sense of steadiness, with more consistent energy, sleep, and connection

  • Fit matters.

If you’re unsure, the best place to start is with a brief 15-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to connect, talk about what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether the approach feels right for you before booking a full session.

  • I offer:

    • Short-term individual psychotherapy

    • Ongoing individual psychotherapy

    • Sleep support using CBT-I (individual)

    • CBT-I group programs (offered periodically)

All sessions are offered virtually for adults (18+) across Ontario.

  • Sessions are $165 per hour.

Each session includes 50 minutes of direct client time, with 10 minutes reserved for documentation, clinical review, and administrative tasks, for a total professional service time of 60 minutes.

Services are typically covered under most extended health benefits (e.g., Registered Social Worker, MSW, or psychotherapy/mental health/counselling services). It’s recommended that you check directly with your insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage.

As services are provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW, MSW), fees paid out of pocket may also be claimed as an eligible medical expense on your Canadian income tax return. Clients are encouraged to retain their receipts and consult the CRA or a tax professional regarding their individual circumstances.

Fees for group CBT-I programs will be listed separately closer to the time that they’re offered.

  • You can reach me anytime via my contact page or email. I aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day (Tuesday - Friday).
